SG Letter

Dear Advisors & Delegates,

It is my distinct honor to invite you to the Third Session of Berkeley Model United Nations China (BMUN China 2017) to be held on March 31, 2017 – April 2, 2017 in Shanghai. Eight Head Chairs from the BMUN Secretariat and more than ten staff members selected from our Chinese associates will convene to host debate on the most important social, political, and economic issues in today’s world.

Since hosting the world’s first MUN conference in 1952 at University of California, Berkeley, BMUN has dedicated the past sixty-five years to providing students the opportunity to debate international issues and learn valuable public speaking skills. We hope that by the end of the conference, delegates have the tools to critically examine policy issues in a collaborative environment. It is in our commitment to extend our educational approach to MUN beyond the United States. Through our partnership with the nonprofit and student organization, Project ConneXion, as well as Rising International Educational Co. Ltd., we are excited to host the Third Session of Berkeley Model United Nations China.

BMUN China prides itself on providing a unique opportunity for intellectual and interpersonal growth, regardless of financial circumstances. As a student group at a public university, we pledge to make our conference in China a strictly nonprofit and financially transparent event. As per our agreement with our partners, we will work to make our conference as accessible as possible and will publish the financial information upon its conclusion. Second, we are excited to host four committees of different sizes and experience levels. In addition to general committees such as the 1st Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC) and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), we will have two specialized committees, including the Security Council (SC) and the Chinese State Council (CSC). Students will participate in a dynamic conference environment by discussing the predominant issues of our time. We strive to maintain an active quality of debate, a tailored learning experience, and a small committee size so all delegates can actively participate and benefit from the BMUN experience.

In addition to this mailing, you can access further information regarding the conference at our website, bmunchina.org

Thank you for your time and interest in our BMUN China conference. We look forward to seeing you all next March in Shanghai!
