Berkeley Model United Nations is a student run organization on the UC Berkeley campus dedicated to continuing its six decades of excellence as the world’s premier — and very first — United Nations simulation. Every March, over 1,600 high school students from all over the world come to Berkeley to participate in Berkeley Model United Nations. Entering its 65th session, BMUN’s mission is to spread awareness of international issues and the spirit of diplomacy through UN simulations. We also aim to create an educational experience for high school student, to help them realize their potential in public speaking as well as policy debate. We do this by serving as head chairs on a diverse group of committees in which we help to facilitate delegate education through substantive diplomatic debate.
By extending the BMUN experience beyond the three day conference through the use of position paper feedback, blogs, and other interactive media, we ensure that each delegate receives a unique experience that they can learn from. As subject matter experts our chairs seek to cultivate a holistic perspective to the topic by sharing their academic research in the form of micro-lectures, inviting professor speakers, and encouraging socratic dialogue among the delegates themselves.
the Third Session of Berkeley Model United Nations China(BMUN China 2017) will be held on March 31, 2017 - April 2,2017 in Shanghai. Eight Head Chairs from the BMUN Secretariat and more than ten staff members selected from our Chinese associates will convene to host debate on the most important social, political, and economic issues in today’s world. More information about BMUN CHINA 2017 is coming soon.
